Panchkula. An amount of about Rs 3 crore will be spent on the renovation of the cremation grounds built in various wards by the Municipal Corporation. Tenders have been allotted for this. Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal said that Rs 49 lakh would be spent on cremation grounds built in villages Khatoli, Naggal, Jalauli, Khangesara and nearby rural areas falling under Ward No. 20.
Rs 49.50 lakh will be spent on the cremation grounds of Jaswantgarh, Bhanu and other villages falling under ward number-19. Rs 44.79 lakh will be spent on the renovation of cremation grounds in villages Mattanwala, Kot, Behad, Toka, Sukhdarshanpur. A lot of work is left in the crematorium built in Sector-20, for which a tender of Rs 23.72 lakh has been allotted. Earlier, an amount of Rs 19.26 lakh was spent by the Municipal Corporation on this cremation ground. The cremation ground at Nangal Moginand will be renovated with an amount of Rs 11.15 lakh, Rs 18.63 lakh at Chandimandir, Rs 15.50 lakh at Bir Ghaggar, Rs 23.65 lakh at Saketdi and Rs 10.73 lakh at village Bhainsa Tibba. . Apart from this, Rs 28.13 lakh will be spent on the graveyard at Mahadevpur Saketdi. Kulbhushan Goyal said that tin sheds will be installed at the cremation ground for bathing the dead bodies, for keeping the ashes after the last rites, for shade. The work of building boundary wall will also be done at some places. Arrangements for lighting etc. will be made along with the prayer meeting. Apart from benches, lighting, tree plantation, beautification will be done for people to sit.
