The Punjab-Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab government for February 15 seeking its response on a petition filed for opening the sealed report of the investigation against the police officers implicated in the drug racket case worth thousands of crores of rupees in Punjab.
During the hearing which lasted for about two hours on Friday, the bench was given complete information about the case. Reports related to Bikram Singh Majithia, which are kept sealed with the Registrar (Judicial) in the High Court, were told about them. The High Court called for all these reports from the Registrar (Judicial).
The reports related to Majithia were opened during the hearing. The Punjab government informed that action has been taken in this matter and an FIR was also registered against Majithia. Till the next hearing, the High Court has ordered to file information about the action taken in the matter through a status report.
DGP had submitted sealed report in 2018
Advocate Nav Kiran Singh filed an application in the High Court saying that on the orders of the High Court, DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyay had submitted a sealed report in 2018 against the then SP Rajjit Singh and other police officers involved in the drug racket. Till now there is no information about the action taken by the government on that report. The government has registered an FIR against Bikram Majithia in this case, but the government is not taking action against the police officers involved in this drug racket. Action against such tainted police officers is very necessary. On this, the High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab government seeking its reply.
