Additional District and Sessions Judge KP Singh has sentenced seven convicts to life imprisonment in the Banwari Lal murder case of Tosham area village in Bhiwani, Haryana. The court has imposed a fine of Rs one lakh 26 thousand on the culprits. Provision has also been made for additional punishment for non-payment of fine amount.
In 2020, Hoshiar Singh, son of deceased Banwari Lal, lodged a complaint at Tosham police station. Hoshiar Singh had alleged that on April 22, 2020, the entire family was harvesting wheat in the field and tying the bundles. It is alleged that Ramnivas, who was working in the field, along with his family and others attacked the entire family with sticks and axes. In this attack, Hoshiar’s father Banwarilal was hit with an ax on his head, who died during treatment, while other family members sustained injuries.
After registering a case under related sections including murder in Tosham police station, after assessing the important evidence in this case, arrested the accused and produced them in the court. The court sentenced Ramnivas, Sombir, Raju, Surendra, Rajendra, Roshni and Sharbati, resident Isharwal, to life imprisonment for the murder of Banwarilal.
The court sentenced the culprits to life imprisonment and fine of Rs 10,000 under section 302/149 of IPC, one year imprisonment and fine of one thousand rupees under section 148, one year sentence and fine of one thousand rupees under section 323/149, section 325/ Under section 149, he has been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and a fine of five thousand rupees, under section 506/149, he has been sentenced to one year’s imprisonment and a fine of one thousand rupees.
