On Sunday morning, the people of Manimajra gheraoed the house of Mayor Sarabjit Kaur. Ward 5 councilor Darshana Rani and former mayor Gurcharan Das Kala led the protest. People of Pipliwala Town and Bank Colony raised slogans against the Chandigarh Administration and BJP. At eight o’clock in the morning, all Manimajra residents gathered in front of Pipli Wale Town and went towards Mayor Sarabjit Kaur’s house raising slogans. He put the problems of his increased water bill in front of the mayor.
The Mayor assured that all Manimajra residents do not have to pay garbage charges, only water bills. After the assurance of the mayor, everyone returned home. Former mayors Gurcharan Das Kala, Surjit Singh Dhillon, Sanjeev Gabba, Sanjay Bhajani, Imran Mansoori, Rais Ahmed, Fateh Singh, Matloob Khan, Soni, Shamim Ahmed, Samsudin, Rajesh Agarwal, Shobha Sharma, Gayatri Devi, Kishori Lal , Shiv Rana, Bharat Bhushan Goyal, Mohsin Salmani, Ganga Bishan were present.
