There is no regular recruitment in Chandigarh for a long time. The youth are roaming unemployed but the administration is giving preference to the elderly. Whether it is the recruitment of 363 posts in the education department, there are many departments of engineering, government museum or prison department, they all have one thing in common that all these recruitments have been taken out for the retired employees.
Young people are competing among themselves for getting employment, right on contract, but now they have to compete with retired workers who get re-employed in the same office even after retiring. In this way, the employment opportunity which should have been given to the youth is going into the account of retired personnel. This trend has increased more in administration.
It started many years ago. Recently, many such recruitments came out in the administration which were only for retired employees. In the last one year, more than 10 times recruitment has been done in various groups and many posts only for retired personnel. This is the situation when unemployed youth are committing suicide. Experts say that as long as the work of the governments continues by outsourcing, contract or retired employees, they will not think about the youth and rising unemployment.
