A person going home on a bike after working from a printing press was caught by the tipper. The accident happened at Eicher Light Point in Mohali. The tire of the tipper went over the person due to which his helmet broke and he died on the spot. On receiving information about the accident, Sohana police reached the spot and arrested the tipper driver. The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Yadav, a resident of Maloya, Chandigarh. He is originally from Azamgarh in UP.
The deceased Rajesh used to work as a machineman in a private printing press in Sector-82, Airport Road. On Monday evening at around 8.15 pm, he left for work on his bike and left for home. As soon as Eicher started turning towards Chandigarh near Light Point, a speeding tipper coming from Mohali side caught the bike. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the people present around caught the tipper driver and handed him over to the police.
Accidents have already happened on the square
Eicher Light being the entry point of the city is the most important square entering Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab. Often people drive here at high speed and while turning at the light point, they become victims of accidents and even lose their lives. According to the police, traffic police is stationed here during the day and no officer is present during the night and most of the accidents happen in the absence of police officers. On Monday also Rajesh was turning right according to him but during the night the tipper driver caught him in his grip.
Pickup climbed on a young man waiting for auto, death
On the other hand, a young man waiting for the auto on the road going from Gurdwara Singh Shaheed Sohana to Phase-8 was hit by a pickup. He was admitted to PGI in critical condition. He died there during treatment. The deceased has been identified as Mayank Kushwaha resident of Madhya Pradesh. Police have registered a case against the pickup driver.
Mayush Kushwaha told the police that his brother Mayank lived in SK Tower Sohana and worked in Bastec Mall. A few days ago he had come to meet his brother. At 12.30 pm on Sunday night, he and his brother were waiting for the auto in front of Gurdwara Singh Shaheedan Sohana on the road leading to Phase-8. At the same time a white colored pickup vehicle from Homeland rammed his brother. The pickup driver fled after the accident. With the help of passers-by, the brother was taken to PGI for treatment where he died during treatment.
