Suspended BDPO of Sidhwan Bet Satwinder Singh Kang and Block Committee Chairman Sidhwan Wait Lakhwinder Singh have been arrested on charges of cheating and embezzlement of government money. Vigilance Bureau official said that the department has registered a case against BDPO of Sidhwan Vet Satwinder Singh Kang and Block Committee Chairman Lakhwinder Singh and both have been arrested. According to the Vigilance Officer, the investigation of this case was going on for the last two and a half months.

It was alleged by the complainant in this case that the street light which was approved by the government to buy for Rs 3325, was bought by Sukhwinder Singh Kang, BDPO of Sidhwan Wet and Lakhwinder Singh, chairman of the block committee, for Rs 7288 and gave lakhs of rupees to the government. And the grant of Rs 65 lakh has been wasted in the purchase and sale of these street lights.

Vigilance Department official said that this street light was purchased from Amar Electrical Enterprises by BDPO Satwinder Singh and Block Committee Chairman Lakhwinder Singh and shop owner Gaurav Sharma has also been named as an accused by the Vigilance Department.

Vigilance officer said that an FIR has been registered against the accused in Ludhiana, in which both the accused are arrested, the third accused Gaurav Sharma is yet to be arrested. He said that the street light was passed on 30th December 2021 by the Block Committee Chairman Lakhwinder Singh, whose meaning was inserted by BDPO Sukhwinder Singh Kang on 27th December 2021 and three days later on 30th December it was approved by the Block Committee Chairman.
