Spice Jet Employee Arrested At Amritsar Airport For Smuggling Gold – CGCHOTBOX

Air Intelligence Wing officials at Amritsar airport in Punjab arrested a SpiceJet employee on Friday morning when he was trying to get out of a SpiceJet flight from Dubai to Amritsar carrying two packets of gold biscuits. Custom officials have seized nine gold biscuits from two packets recovered from his possession. Their price has been estimated at Rs 54 lakh 70 thousand.

According to the information, on the intervening night of September 15 and 16, SpiceJet flight number SG 56 landed at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport after taking off from Dubai. All the passengers who arrived by this flight left after getting the customs checked. During this, at 4:20 am on Friday, a SpiceJet employee was descending the stairs of the Aerobridge after going inside the flight.

When custom officers stopped him and searched him, two packets wrapped in black tape were found from his possession. After opening both the packets, there were nine gold biscuits inside them. Their weight was one kilo and 50 grams. During interrogation, he revealed that he had taken out these packets from under a seat inside the flight. An international traveler had left there.

Custom commissioner Rahul Nagre said that the SpiceJet employee caught with more than one kg of gold has also revealed that he has been smuggling gold through such methods for the last three months. The accused has been arrested, he is being interrogated, so that his fellow smugglers can also be arrested.
