Chandigarh Sector-17 Plaza Will Look Like London Street – CGCHOTBOX

Sector-17 Plaza is called the heart of Chandigarh. The Chandigarh Administration has again started trying to restore its lost glory. Preparations are on to make the plaza like London Street. The plaza will be illuminated with twinkling lights along with replacement of tiles. There is a plan to open a retail chain here by shifting many government offices.

UT Administration Chief Engineer CB Ojha said that at some point in the city, the plaza was crowded all the time, but after the opening of malls and other tourist places, the number of people coming to the plaza gradually reduced. The plaza is a very important place for the city, so many plans are being worked on again to attract people there.

There are plans to shift some shops from the 17 Wedge building located in the plaza and bring the retail chain there. White colored lights will be installed throughout the plaza. After their installation, the plaza will look like London Street. Its preparations are going on. The work will be completed by December. CB Ojha said that it is the effort of the department that this time the celebration of the new year should be celebrated in the plaza itself and all work should be completed before 26 January. The department plans to beautify the entire plaza but the part before the bridge market will be developed before December.

Bubble fountain will be installed in the plaza

CB Ojha said that there is also a plan to install a bubble fountain here to attract people. Many changes will also be made to the fountain present here. By January, a lot will be seen in Sector-17 Plaza. Earlier every Saturday and Sunday cultural programs were organized in the plaza. Will start it again now. Musical nights and other activities will be held here every weekend. For this the engineering department is going to appoint an agency.

Many government offices will be shifted to Government Press Building
To beautify the plaza, it is necessary that the government offices there should be shifted elsewhere. In such a situation, the Engineering Department is going to shift many other government offices and some shops including Registrar Birth and Death, Krishna Carpet. CB Ojha told that these have been given on rent by the department. The idea is to shift all of them to the Government Press Building in Sector-18.

Projector mapping work is also expected to be completed soon
Projector mapping work is also going on near Neelam Theater in Sector-17. In the past, a trial of projector mapping was also done. A map of Chandigarh has been made on the ground in front of Neelam Cinema, on which different parts of Chandigarh are shown on the map through projector lighting. People liked it a lot during the trial. The department says that due to various reasons there has been delay in the work but now soon this project will also be completed.
